HCH Mindfulness Monday
Every Monday, we as a campus, invite you to take a few minutes at the start of the day to wake up the inner workings of our mental, emotional, and physical processes through our Mindfulness Monday!
We would like to promote a little self-care and feed our souls as a campus. After morning announcements, we are inviting all classes and staff to log on to the Zoom link below as we take some time to pause for a brief campus-wide meditation session.
I am also including a brief explanation of meditation if you would like to share with your children in preparation for our Monday sessions.
What is meditation?
Meditation can be defined as a set of techniques that are intended to encourage a heightened state of awareness and focused attention. Meditation is also a consciousness-changing technique that has been shown to have a wide number of benefits on psychological well-being. When we meditate, we venture into the workings of our minds: our sensations (air blowing on our skin or a harsh smell wafting into the room), our emotions (love this, hate that, crave this) and thoughts (wouldn’t it be weird to see an elephant playing a trumpet). Mindfulness meditation asks us to suspend judgment and unleash our natural curiosity about the workings of the mind, approaching our experience with warmth and kindness, to ourselves and others.
This innovative HCH endeavor focuses on the mind, body and soul of our students and staff. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
